🛠️ Repair, Share, Connect: Volunteer at the Repair CafĂ©s! (Brisbane – Woolloongabba)
What if your Saturday morning looked like this:
A buzzing workshop.
Bikes tuned, lamps relit, things fixed together.
Laughter. Coffee. Community and fun!
Serve the City is partnering with the Woolloongabba Community Repair Café in Brisbane for a full agenda of Saturday mornings filled with community, repair and connection!
We’re looking for volunteers who can help repair treasured items while enjoying great social time and connecting with the local community.
If you’d like to volunteer at an upcoming Repair Café, submit your Expression of Interest through this form and tell us what you can repair.
We can’t wait to welcome you!
🌿 What Happens at a Repair Café?
Every two months, community members bring in items they treasure but that need a little love.
Customers book 30-minute slots, and our volunteers are paired with them to look at the item together. Some repairs are quick wins. Others take teamwork and creativity. Either way, there’s always learning, laughter, and connection!
The cafe is a small, welcoming community group operating out of the Wollangabba Repair Cafe’ workshop at Reverse Garbage Queensland — the perfect space for reuse, sustainability, and grassroots community energy!
Upcoming dates: April 11, June 13, August 8, October 10, December 12
🔧 Got Skills? Bring them to the Bench!
We’re looking for help with:
General repairs • Electrical • Electronics • Computers • Sewing & textiles • Knife sharpening • Bike repairs • Lawnmowers
Have another repair skill? We’d love to hear about it!
Whether you’re a seasoned tradie, a hobby tinkerer, a sewing whiz, a tech fixer, or just someone who loves solving practical problems — you’re welcome here!
All electrical items are tested and tagged before repair. The Cafe will separate battery-operated electronics from 240V items, which are supervised by a licensed electrician. Safety and community go hand in hand!
🧰 What to Bring
Bring your favourite tools (we know everyone has “their” screwdriver).
Let us know your skills, available dates, and what you can bring — we’ll coordinate the rest!
✨Not a Fixer? We need your help too!
We’re also looking for friendly volunteers who help make the morning run smoothly — welcoming people, helping with registrations, setting up and packing down, and lending a hand where needed. If you enjoy creating a warm, welcoming space, you’re one of the shining lights that make the Repair Café special.
How does it work?
Once you submit your EOI through the form below, we will reach out to let you know further details.Â
Come fix things.
Come meet people.
Come build community.Â
If you love working with your hands, enjoy a good chat, and believe community is built through small, practical acts — this is for you!
