Join Serve the City Australia for a hands-on volunteering shift preparing fresh sandwiches that will be distributed across the streets of Brisbane to people doing it tough.
In partnership with Coffee Brigade, this simple but impactful activity brings volunteers together to prepare food that will later be shared through street outreach. It’s a practical way to support the community — and a reminder of how small acts of kindness can go a long way.
During the shift, volunteers will:
- Prepare and pack sandwiches in a team setting
- Support the Coffee Brigade outreach effort across Brisbane
- Contribute to a simple but meaningful act of care for those in need
No experience needed — just bring your energy and willingness to help. It’s a relaxed, social environment where you can meet others, give back, and be part of something tangible.

About Coffee Brigade
Coffee Brigade is a not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting people experiencing homelessness or hardship since 1970. Every morning, our volunteers serve free hot drinks and fresh sandwiches to our friends in need, always with a smile and friendly conversation. By meeting someone’s basic needs with consistency and kindness, we give them the chance to start their day feeling a little more seen, supported and ready to take on whatever comes next. By volunteering in our kitchen, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our service running everyday. When you handmake fresh sandwiches for our friends in need, you’re supporting them with a nourishing meal that reminds them they aren’t alone. By volunteering on our van, you’ll be directly serving hot coffee and fresh sandwiches to people experiencing homelessness and hardship. When you spend your morning with our friends, you’ll be lifting spirits and starting someone’s day with kindness and care.
