“You become part of something bigger when you serve the community”

Meet Linda B. She is a dedicated volunteer with Serve the City and part of our Emmanuel City Mission (ECM) crew in Brisbane. Linda recently shared her experience as a volunteer while serving breakfast to the homeless: “Volunteering with Serve the City allows me to experience and discover a new side of Brisbane and its wonderful people. At Emmanuel City Mission (ECM), you immerse yourself in an environment where you become part of something bigger, serving the community. “

Volunteering at ECM never get boring, says Linda. “Time flies at ECM. Between preparing food, distributing coffee, sorting clothes, and tending to the guests’ basic needs, you soon find it’s already time to sit down and share a meal with the people you’ve just met.”

Linda also loves that ECM includes all walks of life. “Anyone who walks through the door is welcome. You will meet people with life stories similar to yours or completely different, but all united by the desire to be present in the community and for others.”

And her overall experience with Serve the City? “Volunteering was simple, fun and engaging and I will definitely be back!”, says Linda.

Inspired ? There is always a need for warm hearts and willing hands and Serve the City welcomes everyone.
