Meet Zalaika, a strong and compassionate 79-year-old woman living in Southport. She’s been the primary carer for her terminally ill ex-partner, Wayne, who lives nearby. Due to his declining health, Wayne has spent increasing time at Zalaika’s place, unable to manage on his own.

In recent months, Wayne has been in and out of his unit as his condition worsened. Because of the extended periods away and limited communication, the property has now been classified as unoccupied under government housing regulations, and Wayne has been instructed to vacate.

He’s been given one day only — this coming Tuesday — to return to his unit and collect his belongings.

Wayne is far too unwell to manage this task alone, and Zalaika simply isn’t physically able to help with the move.

We’re looking for a team of kind-hearted volunteers to come alongside them and help pack and move Wayne’s things. Whether you can lift, sort, or just show up with a helping spirit, your time will make a real difference.

📍 Location: Southport
